My research interest is in the social, cultural, and historical grounding of psychological experience. More specifically, my current work focuses on the following topics: (1) the cultural grounding of personal relationship, emphasizing comparisons between North American and West African settings; (2) liberation social psychology, including research on (a) ethnic identity, constructions of history, and perceptions of current events (e.g., perception of racism); and (b) a sociocultural approach to the topic of oppression.***During the 2008-2009 academic year, I am on leave at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford Univeristy***
